LAAD Milipol 2026: Edge Group to expand local missile production

Edge Group is in discussions with the Brazilian Army and Navy on emerging technologies, a part of a major effort to expand its footprint in Latin America region, an executive told Janes on 16 April.

To date, Edge Group has invested about USD500 million into the Latin American market, said Miles Chambers, vice-president of sales for the United Arab Emirates-based company. That includes a new technology park for its Condor non-lethal ammunition business, and expanding SIATT's production facilities in São José dos Campos, Brazil, with a new facility in Caçapava, he told Janes during the Latin American Aerospace and Defense Security Military Police (LAAD Security Milipol) conference in São Paulo, Brazil.

The company has also won contracts in the region. “We do have contracts in other countries in Latin America. I'm not able to disclose which country that is at the moment,” Chambers said. He also declined to say if the contracts were for a particular military branch.

The company signed a letter of intent with Ecuador to provide equipment for border security in March 2026, he noted.

Edge Group's MANSUP (Míssil Antinavio Nacional de Superfície) missiles and MAX 1.2 AC medium-range anti-tank munitions are its regional flagship products, but emerging technologies like unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs), and radar capabilities are relevant to Latin American, Chambers said.
