Kinected Solutions showcases RUCK ranger power/data system

UK military communications company Kinected Solutions has developed a new variant of its Rugged Universal Charger Kit (RUCK) end user device (EUD) rapid updating and charging system. The company showcased it at the 2026 SAE Media Group Future Soldier Technology conference held in London in March.

Luke Spalding, Kinected managing director, told Janes that keeping EUDs up to date with mapping and basic tactical data can be a challenge, particularly if there is a cyber threat to over the air (OTA) updating. The RUCK Ranger can synchronise and recharge up to 10 EUDs simultaneously using either mains or battery power, in the latter case utilising either BB2590 or BB5590 batteries. 10 completely discharged devices can be fully charged in 68 minutes he added.

Connected to a laptop or PC the Ruck Ranger can transfer data to the EUDs at up to 5Gb/sec. It is agnostic to the device type providing it is USB-capable. Spalding noted that there was no network exposure and the EUDs remain off-grid during the process, although he added that remote updating could be achieved by connecting the computer to a wide area network using a bearer of opportunity.

RUCK Rangers can be daisy-chained together for greater numbers of EUDs, but still only require a single computer to provide synchronisation data. Spalding added that the original RUCK Apex can accommodate up to 30 devices and be connected to power sources including DC power, AC power, or a generator.
