The Rohde & Schwarz jammer in the counter-unmanned aircraft system (C-UAS) THORIS (tactical high-energy opponent response and interception system) has the capability to jam up to 10 UAVs simultaneously, Bernd Nagelrauf, product manager of C-UAS at Rohde & Schwarz told Janes at the Eurosatory 2026 exhibition held in Paris from 15-19 June.

The jammer on the THORIS will be a multi-band jammer (MBJ) from Rohde & Schwarz's Automatic Radio-controlled DRONe Identification Solution (ARDRONIS) system.

The THORIS jammer, radio frequency (RF) detector, and direction finding antennas, the latter of which enables the system to detect enemy UAS pilots, will be the same as those used in the ARDRONIS system. “The technology from ARDRONIS is now being integrated into THORIS,” Dennis Merklinghaus, spokesperson for Rohde & Schwarz said. One of the direction finding antennas that THORIS may be equipped with is the R&S ADD597 wideband direction finding antenna that covers the 20 MHz to 8.5 GHz frequency range with vertical polarisation, and the 20 MHz to 7.5 GHz frequency range with horizontal polarisation. According to the specification document, the direction finding antenna includes active elements that can be switched to passive mode.

THORIS will include a range of hardware and software including a radar, electro optical/infrared (EO/IR) sensors, command and control (C2) software, a jammer, cyber radio frequency (RF) effector, and a laser. The system is intended to counter at Class 1 and 2 UASs.
