Czech company ERA, part of the Omnipol Group, is displaying the EW-DEC multipurpose electronic warfare (EW) system at the Future Forces Forum 2026 exhibition being held in Prague on 21-23 October. The portable, compact unit emits electromagnetic signals that resemble the characteristics and behavior of real radars.
Weighing up to 25 kg, EW-DEC is intended for deployment on the battlefield near friendly radar, where it protects or masks its operation. It can serve either as a decoy for enemy strike systems or to overwhelm an adversary‘s reconnaissance and surveillance assets by transmitting radar signals, which the user can configure across a wide range of frequency bands and parameters.
The unconventionally designed EW system is also designed for the simultaneous deployment of multiple systems on the battlefield, which are time-synchronised through joint operational planning and controlled remotely. In this scenario, EW-DEC creates a complex and dynamic electromagnetic spectrum environment designed to attract the attention of an adversary‘s operators. According to ERA, enemy personnel will have difficulty distinguishing between the activity of real radars and decoys, while EW-DEC systems will simultaneously mask actual ongoing operations.
From the very beginning of development, EW-DEC units were optimised for cost-effectiveness, making them suitable for direct deployment on a battlefield‘s front lines and in high-risk areas where relatively high casualties are expected.
