Hyderabad-based Zen Technologies has launched an integrated sensor and weapons suite for the Indian military and security forces to strengthen border security.
Zen said on 27 May that the Integrated Smart Border Suite (ISBS) was launched to support the Indian government's ‘Smart Border' project, which was announced by Home Minister, Amit Shah, on 22 May.
Under the Smart Border project, the government will deploy enhanced radars, cameras, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), and additional sensing and combat systems to enhance security forces' ability to counter illegal infiltration, narcotics and arms smuggling, and other threats, Shah said.
The ISBS could also be deployed by the Indian Armed Forces to deter foreign incursions, including hybrid threats from state and non-state actors.
A Zen Technologies spokesperson told Janes that the ISBS uses an open-architecture framework designed to enable integration of future weapon systems, including those developed by other companies.
Information provided by Zen shows that the ISBS currently integrates a combination of sensors and weapon systems developed in-house and by its recently acquired subsidiaries, including Bhairav Robotics and Tisa Aerospace.
Zen said the ISBS comprises six categories of sensors and weapon systems: artificial intelligence (AI)-based counter-unmanned aircraft systems (C-UASs), loitering munitions, interceptor UAVs, unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs), remote controlled weapon stations (RCWSs), and electro-optical (EO) and thermal surveillance systems.
The spokesperson said that the company is offering different versions of its Zen Anti-Drone System (ZADS) C-UAS as part of the ISBS. ZADS is available in vehicle-mounted, man-portable and fixed configurations, and can be equipped with kinetic and non-kinetic effectors for hard-kills.
