Members of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) integrated unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), unmanned surface vehicles (USVs), unmanned underwater systems, and radars with Ukraine's Delta battlefield management system (BMS) during NATO Exercise ‘REPMUS 26' (Robotic Experimentation and Prototyping with Maritime Unmanned Systems), according to a Ukrainian Ministry of Defence (MoD) press release on a 14 October 2026.

During the exercise telemetry-compatible unmanned systems and radars were integrated with the Delta BMS in accordance with NATO Standardisation Agreement (STANAG) 4817 protocols. REPMUS 26 enabled NATO members and partners to deploy unmanned systems across different domains and test their interoperability within multinational forces, as per the release. STANAG 4817 has been developed through successive iterations of REPMUS since 2021. The standard has since been ratified and is moving from development to onward delivery to user countries, according to a 16 September social media post from the NATO Science and Technology Organisation.

STANAG 4817 provides a so-called “blueprint” for messaging commonality across platforms, sensors, command and control (C2), and other software architecture, underpinning unmanned maritime system use, as previously reported by Janes.
