Russian company unveils new interceptor UAV

The Moscow-based manufacturer of the Skvorets unmanned aircraft vehicle (UAV) unveiled new interceptor UAV in a report by Russian state media outlet Tass on 2 April 2026.

In imagery released from a UAV event in Moscow on 2 April, a representative of the UAV manufacturer, named as Anton Belozerov, refers to the UAV as Skvorets Skarlov. “This is an interceptor drone [UAV] which is used for intercepting long-range and medium-range drones [UAVs],” he said while wearing a face covering.

The interceptor has a radar which, the representative said, is the same as the one integrated into an unspecified Russian anti-aircraft gun. “The drone moves to the interception zone and is guided by the radar,” he said. The flight of the UAV is adjusted based on radar data and the “guided munition” is detonated once the target is four to five metres away, according to the representative.

Russian company Technodron is among those known for producing first person view (FPV) UAVs including Skvorets-7, Skvorets-10, Skvorets-Z, and Skvorets-Pro, according to the War and Sanctions website run by Defence Intelligence of Ukraine (DIU), also known as HUR ( Holovne Upravlinnia Rozvidky).

A different type of Skvorets FPV UAV, operated with fibre-optic cables, was also delivered to the Russian military, according to a separate 2 April Tass report. The new fibre-optic cable Skvorets UAV has a range of up to 20 km and a payload of 3.3 kg, Anton Belozerov is quoted saying.
