Kongsberg to add three satellites to N3X constellation in 2027

Kongsberg is adding three new satellites to its N3X satellite constellation in 2027, bringing the total number of satellites to six, according to a 24 August 2026 company press release.
Kongsberg said it is expanding its space-based maritime surveillance capability to meet the increased operational needs of the Norwegian Armed Forces.
All the satellites in the constellation, including the additional new ones, are equipped with advanced identification system (AIS) receivers and passive radio frequency (RF) sensors, according to the release. As per a June 2025 Janes report, the satellites use MP42H microsatellite buses produced by Kongsberg NanoAvionics and are also equipped with a navigation radar detector (NRD).
The three initial N3X satellites were launched in 2025. The first Arvaker 1 N3X was launched in March 2025 as part of SpaceX's Transporter-13 launch service from California. Arvaker 2 and 3 were launched onboard SpaceX's Transporter-14 in June 2025.
Kongsberg was awarded a five-year contract by the Norwegian Armed Forces in 2024 to launch three satellites on behalf of the Norwegian government to provide maritime domain awareness.
