Iceye delivered four synthetic aperture radar (SAR) satellites to the Polish Armed Forces as part of the MikroSAR programme, an Iceye representative confirmed to Janes on 22 May.
The initial batch of three Iceye SAR satellites were followed by the delivery of the fourth satellite, along with further ground segment capabilities which were all part of a contract option, according to the company's representative. The MikroSAR programme is Poland's sovereign radar satellite reconnaissance system, according to 15 May Iceye press release.
The constellation of satellites is called the Polish SAR Intelligence System (POLSARIS) and is operated by the Polish Geospatial Intelligence and Satellite Services Agency (Agencji Rozpoznania Geoprzestrzennego i Usług Satelitarnych: ARGUS), the statement said. Poland's military operators completed training and are running the constellation independently. The MikroSAR system also completed a series of qualification tests to confirm its compliance with the operational and technical requirements set by the Polish military, according to the release.
Iceye delivered the system and its space segment, whilst state-owned Military Communication Works No 1 (Wojskowe Zakłady Łączności No 1: WZŁ-1) delivered the ground segment and mobile infrastructure.
On 14 May 2025, Iceye signed an agreement with the Armament Agency (Agencja Uzbrojenia: AU) of the Ministry of National Defence (MND, in Polish Ministerstwo Obrony Narodowej: MON) and a consortium of Iceye Polska Sp. z o.o. and Military Communication Works No 1. The deal covers the delivery of three Iceye SAR satellites with an option for three more and ground segment capabilities within 12 months.
