RTX's Raytheon reports international interest in its Coyote counter-unmanned aircraft system (C-UAS), with the US government in discussions with partner countries. A Coyote mock-up has in the past been displayed at events such as the International Defence Exhibition and Conference (IDEX), and the system was presented interactively to Janes on a tablet on the first day of the Farnborough International Airshow 2026 being held on 20-24 July.

Joseph DeAntona, vice president for requirements and capabilities, Land and Air Defense Systems, at Raytheon, told journalists during a pre-Farnborough online briefing on 14 July that the Coyote family of effectors can conduct different missions from a common, modular platform, making it more attractive to national and international customers. He said the Coyote sensor and effector has been integrated into the Low, slow, small, unmanned aircraft Integrated Defeat System (LIDS) command and control (C2) system.

Coyote employs both kinetic and non-kinetic (NK) payloads and can be launched from mobile or fixed-site platforms across land, air, and sea. The C-UAS versions are the Coyote Block 2 (kinetic), an expendable interceptor using a precision warhead to defeat Group 1-3 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

Coyote Block 3NK loiters to counter UAV swarms with a non-kinetic payload. Briefing journalists at Farnborough on 20 July, Tom Laliberty, President of Land and Air Defense Systems at Raytheon, said Coyote Block 3NK is a US programme of record and uses a high-power microwave module to disable UAVs without crashing into them, making it reusable after it is recovered by a net. He reported that two Coyote Block 3NKs had intercepted all 19 UAVs they had targeted.
