Eurosatory 2026: Rheinmetall presents CML multi launcher for FV-014 loitering munition

Rheinmetall presented the Containerized Missile Launcher (CML) multi launcher for FV-014 loitering munition (LM) on the first day of the Eurosatory 2026 defence exhibition being held in Paris on 15-19 June.

According to Rheinmetall, CML is a fully autonomous, modular, and networked weapon system designed for deployment on various platforms and rapid operational readiness. CML is based on a 20-foot container capable of holding up to 18 FV-014 LMs. An integrated power supply and various communication modules enable unmanned operation.

Multiple FV-014 LMs can be launched in a single salvo and controlled simultaneously by a single operator. FV-014 LMs have a range of up to 100 km and an endurance of up to 70 minutes.

The launcher's open architecture is designed for the quick and easy integration of other munitions, according to Rheinmetall. Presenting CML to journalists including Janes at Eurosatory on 15 June, Timo Haas, Rheinmetall's CEO Division Digital Systems/Chief Digital Officer, said that CML can fire LMs such as those produced by UVision and Anduril, in addition to FV-014s.

CML can be adapted to a wide variety of vehicles as well as to country-specific command-and-control systems, according to Rheinmetall. Haas said that CML could be transported by and fired from a Rheinmetall HX truck or be deployed statically.

CML features an integrated fire control and communication system enabling remote launch operations with multiple secure communication options, which according to Rheinmetall minimises personnel requirements and improves automation. The launcher can be integrated into existing command, reconnaissance, and weapon systems, according to Rheinmetall.

CML's standardised container format makes the launcher compatible with civilian and military transport by ships, trains, and trucks.
