DroneShield and Terma have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) focused on layered counter unmanned aircraft systems (C-UAS), DroneShield said in a press release on 4 May 2026.
The MoU includes a framework around validation, interoperability and complementary C-UAS capabilities, according to the release. Both companies say they will contribute AI-enabled UAS detection, electronic warfare (EW) systems and command and control (C2) software.
Terma will also be contributing its air defence technologies as part of the MoU with DroneShield, said Steen Trier, vice president at Terma.
In November 2025, Terma announced the acquisition of UK-based Operational Solutions Ltd (OSL), which specialises in C-UASs. In a December 2025 interview, Steen Hommel, executive vice-president for public affairs at Terma, told Janes that OSL is field-proven in delivering critical infrastructure protection for airports. In March 2026, the Norwegian Defence Materiel Agency (Forsvarsmateriell or NDMA) confirmed that OSL's C-UAS was installed at Evenes Air Station in northern Norway. Commander 133 Air Wing, Colonel Hans Martin Steiro told Janes that the C-UAS was tested during Cold Response 2026.
DroneShield announced in an 11 March press release the establishment of a C-UAS manufacturing operation in an unnamed EU country. Under a collaboration with an undisclosed “experienced manufacturer”, DroneShield said European-made C-UASs will be delivered starting mid-2026.
