Azerbaijan has contracted Turkish Aerospace ( Türk Havacılık ve Uzay Sanayii Anonim Şirketi'ne : TUSAS) to supply 14 Hürkuş-II trainer aircraft, following a signing ceremony at the Azerbaijan International Defence Exhibition (ADEX), held in Baku from 30 September to 2 October. The agreement makes Azerbaijan the first export customer for the Hürkuş-II.

The contract was signed between Turkish Aerospace and Azerbaijan's Ministry of Defence Industry during ADEX 2026. Haluk Görgün, head of Türkiye's Secretariat of Defence Industries (SSB) said in a statement reported by Türkiye's Anadolu Agency that 14 aircraft would be produced for Azerbaijan and said that deliveries were expected to begin during 2026.

The first Hürkuş-II aircraft were delivered to the Turkish Air Force on 28 September, shortly before the ADEX contract-signing event. The Hürkuş-II is intended to support pilot instruction and training.

Speaking to Janes following the signing, Turkish Aerospace president and CEO Mehmet Demiroğlu said discussions concerning the possible production of Hürkuş subsystems in Azerbaijan were ongoing. He noted that Turkish Aerospace Azerbaijan already had an established presence in the country and said Turkish Aerospace intended to contribute to the development of Azerbaijan's defence industry.

Demiroğlu did not identify the subsystems under consideration or provide a schedule for potential local production. However, his comments indicate that the programme could extend beyond the delivery of completed aircraft to include an element of industrial co-operation. Demiroğlu also highlighted Azerbaijan's interest in Turkish Aerospace's wider aircraft portfolio, including the KAAN combat aircraft.
