Farnborough 2026: SafeSky Systems details low-rate initial production status of VTRX UAV

US unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) company SkySafe Systems' VTRX vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) UAV has entered low-rate initial production (LRIP) and is in testing with customers, the company revealed at the Farnborough International Airshow 2026, held from 20-24 July.
The UAV entered LRIP in 2026, with less than 10 produced in the last few months, a company representative told Janes on 20 July. The aircraft, which has a wingspan of 3 m and a maximum take-off weight of 16.2 kg, has been tested by multiple agencies and operators in the United States, although none were named. SkySafe reported favourable feedback with further testing requested.
One aircraft was also sold to a company in Australia, with further interest from Australian agencies, the representative added.
The VTRX is designed for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) operations. It can be fitted with electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) sensors and a payload release system for payloads such as munitions, or acting as a mothership releasing other first-person view (FPV) UAVs.
