Russia’s aerospace industry has unveiled the export version of the Ilyushin Il-76MD-90AE heavy airlifter at the KADEX 2018 defence show being held in Astana, Kazakhstan, on 23–26 May.
The Il-76MD-90AE is fitted with a 321 m3 cargo compartment. With a maximum take-off weight of 210 tonnes, it can transport payloads of 60 tonnes up to 4,000 km and 52 tonnes up to 5,000 km. “The airlifter has an intercontinental range with a payload of up to 20 tonnes,” a source at United Aircraft Corporation subsidiary Ilyushin told Jane’s .
The Il-76MD-90AE can operate from unprepared airfields and can land on and take off with a payload of up to 33 tonnes from unpaved airstrips.
