A Global Organisation
Starting from the UK, over the years, Janes has expanded to have offices and team members across the world. A global community of Janes analysts and other vital members ensures that Janes expertise is available everywhere.

Our India-based office in Bangalore is also one of the largest. Situated in a great location, it is an extremely lively office, always bustling with activities, social events, and seminars.

Adam Versteeg | Chief People Officer
Adam joined Janes in 2020 and is responsible for delivering business-aligned people leadership, colleague development, and HR and talent acquisition services in support of the global team creating Janes interconnected intelligence. Prior to Janes, Adam was the global HR director for the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU). He has also worked as an HR consultant with PwC. Adam's first position was as an infantry officer in the British Army where he served on operations in a range of environments. Adam's core focus is continuing to ensure that Janes is a truly great place to work.
Blake Bartlett | Chief Executive Officer
After six years at IHS Markit leading a variety of commercial teams, Blake was appointed Senior Vice President and CEO of Janes in 2014. Since then, his focus has been on transitioning Janes from a history of books and magazine publishing to a business that collects, connects, and conveys assured open-source data and intelligence to governments, national security organisations, and defence manufacturers. "Organisations rely on Janes to be the trusted global agency for open-source defence intelligence and at the heart of the company are our exceptional colleagues who are the world's best experts in their fields and our most critical and sustainable competitive advantage."
Chris Light | Chief Finance Officer
Chris joined Janes in 2020, having been in senior finance roles for over 20 years. He is passionate about working with and developing great teams, while also contributing to a business that has clear goals and a people-focused culture. Chris is continually impressed by the quality of Janes products and services and excited about every opportunity Janes has to increase its success.
Harry Kemsley | Global President, National Security & Government
Originally an RAF pilot who amassed more than 2,500 hours of flying time, being honoured by HM The Queen with an award of MBE and OBE and command of No 5 Squadron, Harry has achieved recognition both in the national security space and the private sector. At Janes, Harry ensures the success of the ongoing evolution of the organisation into a datacentric and intelligence provider to meet the needs of Janes customers and is responsible for the development and execution of the vital Global Alliance and Partnership Strategy for Janes.
Kimberley Flanagan | Chief Marketing Officer
As the Chief Marketing Officer for Janes, Kimberley oversees all aspects of Janes marketing strategy and is responsible for accelerating brand recognition, demand generation, and customer orientation programmes to drive continued growth and build customer advocacy. Since joining the company in 2014, Kimberley has led the organisation through a period of tremendous change, including a global rebrand, and has transitioned the marketing organisation to become a digital-centric enterprise, implementing a successful demand-generation strategy, supported by a powerful cutting-edge marketing technology stack to improve lead generation, drive customer engagement, and deliver a more seamless customer experience.
Leendert Van Bochoven | Chief Commercial Officer, International
Leendert joined Janes in 2024 and is responsible for executing a comprehensive growth strategy focused on markets outside of the United States. Leendert has over 25 years' experience working with global government clients in defence and intelligence and has enjoyed an extensive career in consulting, services, and technology leadership roles, most recently with IBM as Global Director for National Security. He also serves on the Executive Committee of the AFCEA International Board of Directors. Leendert is focused on serving Janes national security clients with open-source intelligence to support their decision-making processes, from headquarters to the edge.
Maria Cornett Bertram | Chief Product Officer
Maria has had a long career as a Chief Product Officer and Business Line leader in data, SaaS, and information businesses. Prior to joining Janes, she led the Technology, Media & Telecommunications business line at S&P Global Market Intelligence and the Product, Marketing and Customer Success organizations for Economics & Country Risk units at IHS Markit. As the Chief Product Officer of Janes, Maria is focused on making sure Janes is bringing market leading products to our customers. Maria is excited about the potential Janes has to deliver more value to our customers.
Phil Smith | Chief Technology Officer
Working in CTO positions across a diverse range of companies and roles, Phil now leads the technology teams in Janes with a mandate to drive our technology capabilities and create world-class, open-source intelligence platforms, and customer-facing services. Phil was attracted to Janes for the unique challenges transforming a data-driven intelligence organisation provides and the important role we play in supporting our clients.
Rob Veal | Chief Content and Data Officer
Working in several roles in Janes since 2001, Rob now heads the research, data and analysis team, guiding the teams to ensure Janes delivers the most assured intelligence. "It's a privilege to be part of the team that creates data and content to support Janes customers, and I'm lucky to be involved across the full breadth of our data set. It's very satisfying to know that what my team and I achieve really benefits our clients and is at the heart of our company. In a dynamic business like Janes, the decisions we make, make a difference. We can influence outcomes directly. The people at Janes are just fantastic. We have a wonderful collection of committed, engaged professionals who are building a Janes for the next generation."
Sam Gordy | President, Janes US
A well-known and accomplished business executive with over 35 years of experience working with defence, intelligence, and civilian government customers, both in the United States and with allies overseas, Sam began his career as an active-duty naval intelligence officer supporting airwing operations. He spent the bulk of his career as a leader within SAIC/Leidos and IBM and is now guiding the teams in the US to increase Janes success there and make Janes an even better place to work and succeed in.
Seth Drewry | Chief Operations Officer
One of the longest standing Janes members, originally starting in 2003, Seth has held many roles and titles at Janes, and has worked on several huge projects and strategic programmes throughout Janes history. Seth has been with Janes, thanks to his shared belief in Janes mission, its customers, and its people. His contribution to building Janes into a robust, effective, and world-leading business is always evolving as is his love for running and discovering new opportunities in the business.
Sheetal Shah | General Counsel (Legal, Risk & Compliance)
As the Group General Counsel, Sheetal Shah manages the Legal, Risk & Compliance function at Janes. Prior to Janes, Sheetal worked as the head of legal for 10 years for three different data businesses - Cirium - FlightGlobal (Aviation), Estates Gazette (Commercial Property), and Accuity (Compliance and Financial Services) within RELX Plc - Lexis Nexis Risk Solutions Group - and for Thistle and Guoman Group of Hotels. Sheetal enjoys partnering with the business, ensuring compliance and legal best practices are followed throughout Janes.
