Two French Army Aerospatiale SA341 Gazelle helicopters collided on 2 February, with the loss of all five on board.
According to the country’s Ministry of Defence (MoD), the aircraft came together near Carcès, in the Var region of southern France. Media reports noted that the two Gazelles came from the army's pilot training school located at nearby Le-Cannet-des-Maures.
An investigation under the authority of the Marseilles public prosecutor has been opened.
