Belgium eyes Predator B derivative for MALE UAS requirement

The Belgian Ministry of Defence (MoD) has decided upon which aircraft it would like to fill the Air Component’s medium-altitude long-endurance (MALE) unmanned aircraft system (UAS) requirement, Jane’s has learned, and according to sources this will be a derivative of General Atomics Aeronautical Systems Inc’s Predator B.

In a statement, ministry officials said, “A request for information (RFI) has been sent to the potential providers … each company responded to the RFI. The Program Office analysed all the answers to the RFI as well as the clarifications provided by the companies and the government representatives and drew its recommendations on the procurement procedure to follow.
