28 January 2018

The logistics department of the People's Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF) conducted in late January its first logistics support drills involving unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) from two civilian companies, according to a 29 January report by the People's Liberation Army (PLA)-sponsored China Military Online (ChinaMil) website.

The drills, which took place in the Chinese provinces of Yunnan and Shaanxi, involved three types of UAVs from SF Express and Jingdong Express, both of which are strategic partners of the PLAAF.

According to the report, the drill in the southwestern province of Yunnan involved the delivery via UAV of urgently needed spare parts for a damaged radar in an air force position under the PLA Southern Theater Command in a simulated war-time environment.
