Jamaica Defence Force buying new helicopters, training aircraft

17 January 2018

The Jamaican Ministry of National Security (MNS) said it is buying three Bell 429 helicopters, one Bell 412EPI helicopter, two Bell 206B-3 helicopters, and four Diamond DA40 CS light aircraft.

Procurement of the helicopters is reportedly valued at USD47.4 million, while the aircraft, which is to be used for training, will cost USD1.58 million.

The MNS on 16 January declined to answer Jane’s questions about the aircraft “due to national security considerations”.
