The Zambian Air Force (ZAF) is set to receive two C-27J Spartan transport aircraft, ZAF Deputy Commander Major General David Muma has reportedly confirmed.
The Lusaka Times reported on 17 December that Maj Gen Muma told an annual ball at Livingstone Air Base (AB) that two Spartans would be delivered in the first quarter of 2018.
Alenia Aermacchi (now Leonardo) announced in September 2015 that it had an order for two C-27Js from an African country that had requested anonymity.
There was speculation that the country was Zambia as ZAF Brigadier General Jabes Zulu stated in December 2014 that the C-27J was one of a number of new aircraft types he was looking to procure.
