Slovenian small arms and ammunition manufacturer Arex has been acquired by Prague-based private equity group RSBC; the latest example of regional defence industrial consolidation spearheaded by Czech financial organisations.
The value of the Arex transaction has not been disclosed.
Arex is a producer of plastic and metal practice ammunition for training purposes, plus hand guns (the Rex Aero series of 9 mm, 7.62 mm, and 0.40 calibres. It also produces tactical armour for infantry soldiers. This is a sideline to the more general business of producing plastic and metal components for industrial applications.
The group employs 90 people and returned profits of EUR16.8 million (USD19.7 million) in 2016.
