Swedish Armed Forces Headquarters announced on 29 November that it has reached an agreement with its Finnish, Norwegian, and Danish counterparts to acquire a common Nordic uniform system.
The procurement process is now under way to nominate the manufacturer to supply the uniforms to all four countries. Some 28 producers have expressed their interest.
The agreement, which is a result of the Nordic Combat Uniform (NCU) project, under the auspices of the Nordic Defence Cooperation (NORDEFCO) organisation, has converged the technical requirements of all four nations in 20 pages.
The project’s aim is to reduce costs and to make better use of resources and economies of scale.
