Brazil eyes local VSHORAD development

Brazil’s privately owned Mac Jee, and the Brazilian Army’s Department of Science and Technology are discussing jointly developing a mobile protected very-short-range air-defence (VSHORAD) system, the company told Jane’s .The Brazilian Army and Mac Jee are considering joint development of a VSHORAD system, a model of which is shown here on a Humvee. The potential solution includes the under-development retractable remote mount used by the Mac Jee’s Armadillo TA-2 70 mm rocket launching system, armed with six of army’s existing KBM 9K338 Igla-S VSHORAD missile systems.

The carrier would be an Iveco LMV 4x4, which the army has selected as part of its VBMT-LR multirole armoured vehicle project.
