Slovakia has received a new version of the Armoured Modular Vehicle (AMV) XP from Patria for the joint programme with Finland to develop an 8×8 infantry fighting vehicle (IFV) for the Slovak armed forces, the Finnish company announced in a press release on 17 November.
Patria told Jane's on 21 November that the prototype had been delivered to Konstrukta, the Slovak prime contractor for the programme responsible for vehicle assembly, system integration, and delivery. EVPU Defence of Slovakia will deliver the Turra remote weapon station (RWS), which will be integrated into the vehicle, to Konstrukta.
The Patria press release said the IFV will first be tested in Slovakia, followed by winter testing in Finland, after which Slovakia plans to procure up to 81 IFVs in 2018-24.
