RE2 Robotics has received a Phase I Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) contract from the US Navy to develop an Autonomous Robotic Cargo Handling (ARCH) system.
The ARCH concept envisages an automated cargo loading system, which will be demonstrated with a UH-1H optionally piloted aircraft that is equipped with the Autonomous Aerial Cargo Utility System (AACUS).
During the first phase of the SBIR, the company has been tasked with developing a concept for the ARCH system and will leverage its expertise in advanced manipulation technology. Amongst the performance considerations are the speed of loading and unloading, the load capacity, the system’s size, weight, and volume, power requirements, and its interface.
