Profense has developed an advanced single barrel .50 calibre gun, called the PF 50, and a swivel-mounted six barrel 7.62 mm Gatling gun, called the PF M134, which company officials say could be ideal for maritime fast-craft missions.
The PF 50 features an electric chain drive and uses the stalwart M2 barrel, Profense president Travis Clement explained during the Association of the US Army (AUSA) annual meeting and exposition.
The company recently test-fired the weapon and, Clement said, it is going through final design and engineering with plans for more firing tests in January 2018.
“We should be going into LRIP [low-rate, initial production] in June,” he said.
