US-India Business Council seeks clarity on India’s Strategic Partner policy

The US-India Business Council (USIBC) has welcomed the Indian Ministry of Defence’s (MoD’s) recent launch of the Strategic Partner (SP) industrial policy but has requested clarity on how tie-ups between US companies and their local counterparts will work.

Benjamin Schwartz, senior director for defence and aerospace at USIBC, confirmed to Jane’s on 20 September that the business advocacy organisation has recently sent a letter to the MoD requesting that it addresses some of the “ambiguity” within the SP policy specifically in relation to ownership and control of technologies.
