The new round, named THOR, is a complement to Saab’s Mortar Anti-Personnel Anti-Material (MAPAM) fragmentation technology range and adds a 120 mm projectile to the existing 60 mm and 81 mm bombs for smooth-barrel mortars.

Speaking during the show, Christopher Leitner, head of marketing and sales for Saab Bofors Dynamics Switzerland, emphasised the work that had been done incorporating rocket technology to ensure the predictability of the pre-formed fragmentation pattern, increase the consistency of dispersal and thus increase lethality.
