Aish Technologies is celebrating its contribution to the development of a common shared computing architecture being rolled out across the Royal Navy (RN) surface fleet.
Developed by BAE Systems, the Shared Infrastructure platform combines a shared computing environment, a high-performance disk array a shared high-bandwidth, high-speed network infrastructure based on standard IP protocols, and a common console.
Aish (Stand S3-220) has been contracted by BAE Systems to supply the rugged metal enclosures that house the operational equipment, providing power management, filtering and distribution, including signal interfaces and interconnects. It developed air-cooled and water-cooled versions with temperature monitoring, feedback and control under a range of operating load conditions.
The landing platform helicopter vessel HMS Ocean was the first RN vessel to be upgraded with Shared Infrastructure, followed by HMS Albion and HMS Bulwark. Rollout of the platform to the RN’s 13 Type 23 frigates will follow.
