Fateh submarine to join Iranian navy in September

Iran’s first Fateh-class submarine will formally join the navy during Holy Defence Week in September, the Iranian Ministry of Defence cited Admiral Amir Rastegari, the head of the its marine industries, as saying on 6 August.A still from Iranian television shows what is presumed to be the first Fateh-class boat being rolled out of a shed at the Bostanu shipyard. Adm Rastegari added that the submarine is currently being testing and its capabilities will be announced when it joins the navy.

Iran revealed that it was developing the Fateh class in September 2011.
