EID awarded contract to supply communications for new Portuguese ships

Portuguese electronic and communications company EID has been awarded a contract to equip the Portuguese Navy’s four Tejo-class coastal patrol vessels with its integrated communication systems (ICS).

Under the terms of the contract, worth EUR4.6 million (USD5.4 million) and announced on 31 July, the company will also supply additional systems for the second batch of two Viana do Castelo-class offshore patrol ships (OPVs), which are currently under construction at West Sea shipyard in Viana do Castelo.

EID will deliver the systems for the OPVs in 2017 and for the Tejo-class patrol vessels in 2018, the company told Jane’s . The contract also includes the supply of spares, training, tests, and integration services.
