North Korea conducts another possible ICBM rocket engine test, says report

23 June 2017

North Korea has carried out another test of a rocket engine that the United States believes could be part of Pyongyang's programme to develop an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM), the Reuters news agency reported on 23 June.

The US assessed that the test, the latest in a series of engine and missile trials this year, could be for the "smallest stage" of an ICBM rocket engine, a US official was quoted by the media outlet as saying on condition of anonymity. This may refer to the third stage of the rocket rather than the re-entry vehicle (RV).

No further details were given.
