The Israel Air Force (IAF) has acquired EHUD air combat manoeuvring instrumentation (ACMI) systems from Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), the company announced on 12 June.
Made by IAI's Malam division, the EHUD pods help air-to-air combat training by producing flight data that can be used to work out whether missiles would have hit their targets if they were launched.
IAI says the EHUD is the standard for NATO air forces and that it has delivered more than 1,000 to clients, as well as hundreds of debriefing systems.
IAI said the IAF will install its new EHUD pods on fourth-generation combat aircraft, enabling them to train with its new M-346 Lavi training jets, which already have EHUD systems fitted internally.
