Colombia's air force is set to continue operating its fleet of 20 second-hand IAI Kfir fighter jets for several more years as procurement of a new combat aircraft will not materialise in the short term, a senior Colombian military source told Jane's .
Consequently, the air force plans to acquire two additional Kfir TC-2 two-seater training aircraft to replace lost platforms, although the contract's value has not been disclosed.
The first Kfir TC-2 is undergoing testing in Israel after being overhauled by LAHAV, and the deliveries of both machines will be completed in the next few months, Netta Kerem, LAHAV's marketing director, told Jane's.
