IDEX 2017: UAE confirms order for third Saab GlobalEye

It was confirmed during the IDEX show in Abu Dhabi that the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has ordered a third Saab GlobalEye aircraft.

The UAE military's General Headquarters (GHQ) announced that it had awarded an AED866 million (USD238 million) to Saab for "new airborne G6000 SRSS [Swing Role Surveillance System] aircraft".

Saab told Jane's the contract covers the delivery of one additional GlobalEye airborne surveillance, early warning, and control system on top of the two that were ordered at the Dubai Airshow in 2015.

The company announced on 4 January that it had a USD236 million order for an airborne early warning and control system but did not reveal the customer's identity.
