China North Industries Corporation (NORINCO) (Stand 11-A10) is showing its latest tracked PLZ52 155mm/52 calibre self-propelled artillery system. This system, which is also referred to as the SH8, has a high rate of fire as 155mm artillery projectiles are loaded automatically with the charges loaded using a semi-automatic loading system.
A total of 30 rounds of 155mm ammunition is carried and NORINCO states a maximum rate of fire of up to eight rounds a minute and a burst rate of fire of three rounds in 15 seconds. It also has a multiple round simultaneous impact capability with all of the 155mm projectiles landing on the target at the same time.
The PLZ52 is fitted with its own onboard digital fire control system linked to a land navigation system so it can carry out autonomous fire missions, or as part of a typical battery of six weapons.
As well as supplying the PLZ52 155mm/52 calibre SP artillery weapon, NORINCO is marketing this as just one part of a complete 155mm artillery system. In addition to the weapon, this includes a complete suite of 155mm ammunition comprising the projectile, modular charge system and fuzes.
As well as conventional natures of 155mm ammunition, including Chinese and NATO types, the PLZ52 can fire the latest extended range full-bore – base bleed – rocket-assisted (ERFB-BB-RA) projectile to a maximum range of 58km, as well as top attack and laser-guided projectiles.
NORINCO can also supply unmanned aerial vehicles, artillery location radars, forward observer vehicles, battalion and battery command post vehicles, ammunition resupply vehicles and other support vehicles.
