Indian company Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE), has launched a 62.8 m landing craft utility (LCU) Mk IV vessel on order for the Indian Navy, a service spokesperson announced via its official social media channel on 24 November.
The vessel, which was launched at GRSE's facilities in Kolkata, is the seventh of eight amphibious landing craft ordered under an INR21 billion (USD305 million) contract signed in September 2011. The project's first-of-class was delivered in September 2016.
According to IHS Jane's Fighting Ships, the LCU has a standard displacement of 830 tonnes, an overall beam of 11 m, and a hull draught of 2.2 m.
