South Africa’s only privately owned airport and one of only two international facilities serving Johannesburg in Gauteng (the other is O R Tambo International), Lanseria International (Hangar 6, Stand E2) offers flights between Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban and George, operated daily by kulula.com, Mango and FlySafair.
In addition, Majestic Air links Lanseria to Upington and Sishen.
The airport is also home to a number of prominent fixed-base operators, several flying schools, and the Lanseria Airport Training Academy (LATA). Lanseria is also the main base of long-established National Airways Corporation (NAC), which offers fixed-wing and helicopter charter services, aircraft sales, maintenance, aircraft parts provision, pilot training and international operations.
The airport has been owned since 2012 by a consortium comprising Harith, an infrastructure development fund management company; the women’s empowerment company Nozala; and the Government Employee Pension Fund, through the Public Investment Corporation.
The management is committed to contributing to the uplifting of previously disadvantaged communities. Specific emphasis is placed on education, skills training, leadership development, health care and other related projects.
