Avalon 2015: IAI in customer discussions for Super Heron UAV

Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) is in discussions with a number of potential customers for its recently unveiled Super Heron medium-altitude long-endurance (MALE) unmanned aerial vehicle, a company official told IHS Jane's on 25 February.

Speaking at the Australian International Airshow and Aerospace and Defence Exposition 2015 at Avalon Airport near Melbourne, Doron Horesh, senior director and head of international marketing for Asia-Pacific for IAI, said that the new heavy-fuel variant of the Heron UAV is now ready and IAI is talking to potential operators about acquiring the system.

"We are in discussions with both current operators [of the Heron 1] and with countries that do not [operate it].
