The United States and the Philippines have issued a joint statement registering concerns over ongoing land reclamation by China in disputed areas of the South China Sea.
The statement, issued on 21 January at the end of the fifth Philippines-United States Bilateral Strategic Dialogue, calls on China to act in accordance with international law. The annual discourse was inaugurated in 2011 to discuss bilateral and wider regional issues.
