05 November 2014

Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control (Hall D, Stand D007) and Turkish defence company Roketsan (Hall A, Stand AP014) signed a teaming agreement at Ankara last month for collaboration on the SOM-J, a new generation air-to-surface Standoff Cruise Missile for the F-35 Lightning II.

The SOM system is as an autonomous, long-range, low observable, all-weather, high precision air-to-surface cruise missile and is designed specifically for internal carriage on F-35 aircraft. The two companies will jointly develop, produce, market, sell and support SOM-J for internal carriage on F-35 aircraft, or external carriage on other aircraft. Also in October, Roketsan achieved CMMI/ DEV 3 (Capability Maturity Model Integration – for Development), becoming the only defence company in Turkey to achieve approval for all its design and development processes.
