16 June 2014

Four Chadian soldiers were killed, six other peacekeepers and four Malian soldiers were also injured. Although no group has yet claimed the attack, it is likely that Saharan-based Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) is responsible, either directly or through local allies, such as those organised under Malian Tuareg Iyad Ag Ghali's leadership.

Aguelhok is a town on the main highway from Kidal to Bordj Badji Mokhtar in Algeria.
