Northrop Grumman wins Mk 54 torpedo acoustic head contract

Northrop Grumman has been awarded a USD45.9 million contract by the US Naval Sea Systems Command for the production of acoustic nose arrays for the Mk 54 lightweight torpedo, in support of both US Navy and Foreign Military Sales (FMS) requirements.

The initial contract scope is for 428 arrays, with potential for as many as 3,000 during the life of the contract. If exercised, contract options would bring the cumulative value to USD294.3 million.

The contract also includes offtake for Mk 54 FMS contracts for the Royal Australian Navy and the Indian Navy.
