Russia's United Engine Corporation (UEC) has signed an agreement with United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) to produce 156 PS-90A-76 engines for new Il-476 (Il-76MD-90A) strategic transport aircraft.

The deal is worth RUR30 billion (USD912 million). The 156 engines will equip 39 Il-476s, which UAC subsidiary Aviastar will produce for the Russian Air Force under a 2012 contract. The first engines will reach Aviastar before the end of this year and the air force will receive its first production Il-476s in 2014.

The PS-90A-76 engine was certified in 2003. It will reportedly give the Il-476 a 17-19% reduction in fuel consumption, a 25% increase in flight range (800-1,000 km), and 15% more commercial lift capacity (up to 60 tonnes) than the Il-76MD.
