United Arab Emirates (UAE) defence conglomerate Edge Group significantly increased its presence at the LAAD Defence & Security 2025 exhibition in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, held from 1 to 4 April.
At the show, the company displayed its 170M unmanned surface vehicle (USV), Falaj 3, and FA-400 patrol vessels; Shadow 25 and Shadow 50P loitering unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs); Ajban 452A 4×4 protected light tactical patrol vehicle; RASH-2H air-launched precision-guided munition; Al Tariq guidance kit for air-launched bombs; Desert Sting lightweight precision-guided glide weapons; QX6-50 transport UAV; Reach-S medium-altitude long-endurance (MALE) UAV; 160 ITEP tactical high-speed boat; mortar rounds; and assault rifles.
Edge Group has engaged in several projects in Brazil since opening a regional office in Brasília, Brazil's federal capital, in 2023, and its presence at Latin America's largest defence exhibition reflects its expansion since then, Tiago Silva, Edge Group CEO for Latin America, told Janes on 3 April.
As part of its strategy in Brazil – focused on building synergies with local firms and expanding its portfolio – Edge Group has acquired 50% of missile specialist SIATT – Engenharia, Indústria e Comércio and 51% of non-lethal technologies company Condor Tecnologias Não-Letais in September 2023 and April 2024 respectively, Silva said.
Both are recognised by the Brazilian Ministry of Defense as strategic defence companies.
Edge Group has a workforce of 20 people in Brazil, while SIATT and Condor have workforces of 200 and 350 respectively, Silva added.
