Germany has ordered five PULS MRLs. (Elbit Systems)

Germany has ordered Precise and Universal Launching System (PULS) multiple rocket launchers (MRLs), Elbit Systems announced in a press release on 6 February. An Elbit spokesperson contacted by Janes noted later the same day that the order follows approval of the procurement of five PULS MRLs by the budget committee of the Bundestag, Germany's parliament, on 18 December 2024. The contract is worth approximately USD57 million.

Under the contract, Elbit, in co-operation with KNDS Deutschland, will deliver the MRLs; develop associated adaptations; and integrate German command, control, communications, computers, and intelligence (C4I) equipment, such as command and weapon control systems. The MRLs will be tested by the Bundesamt für Ausrüstung, Informationstechnik und Nutzung der Bundeswehr (BAAINBw), Germany's Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support, and associated technical test centres to achieve approval for in-service use in the Bundeswehr. The systems will also receive in-service support.

Yehuda Vered, general manager of Elbit Systems Land, said his company would deliver the Rocket Launcher Artillery System solution, aimed to set the foundation for the Bundeswehr's Future Long-Range Indirect Fire System. KNDS Deutschland CEO Ralf Ketzel added that his company would ensure that PULSs become EuroPULSs. Vered expected the German PULS procurement to pave the way for future orders of the EuroPULS configuration.

Germany will procure the PULS MRLs as an option under the government-to-government agreement between the Israeli and Dutch ministries of defence for 20 of the MRLs signed in May 2023.

Janes understands that Germany will evaluate the MRLs until 2027, after which it will decide whether to procure 89 EuroPULSs, which are being marketed in Europe as part of KNDS Deutschland's co-operation with Elbit Systems.
