Poland is to build the Anduril Industries Barracuda-500M cruise missile, with the US company signing a strategic agreement with national maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) provider Wojskowe Zakłady Lotnicze Nr 2 S A (WZL-2) on 6 July 2026.
Poland's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz announced the agreement to build the medium-range missile at the WZL-2 facilities in the northern Polish city of Bydgoszcz.
“Poland and the American Anduril Industries are launching strategic cooperation in the production of cruise missiles. Together at the WZL-2 facilities in Bydgoszcz, we will produce the Barracuda-500M – a modern cruise missile with a range of 900 km, precise, resistant to electronic warfare, fast, and inexpensive to produce,” Kosiniak-Kamysz said. Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa (PGZ), Poland's largest state-owned defence company, added that the country is the first in Europe to sign such an agreement with Anduril.
The surface-launched Barracuda-500M is one of a family of autonomous jet-powered cruise missiles that include the Barracuda-100/100M/250/250M/500/500M. PGZ told Janes in November 2025 that the technical specifications of the Barracuda-500M cruise missile “are yet to be determined”, and no further details have been provided since, other than it has a range in excess of 500 n miles (926 km) and a speed of 190 to 500 kt. It is billed by the Polish Ministry of National Defence (MND) as being up to 10 times cheaper to manufacture than a comparable US cruise missile of its class, and will in time be ‘Polonised' and then ‘Europeanised' based on software solutions from Anduril Industries.
