France's Turgis and Gaillard Group unveiled a new multiple rocket launcher (MRL) called Foudre, at the Paris Air Show 2025, held between 16 and 22 June.

The system is firstly intended to equip the French Armed Forces, said Patrick Gaillard, CEO of Turgis Gaillard, with a central constraint being that it should be air-transportable by the smaller C-130J and larger A400M aircraft they have.

It is fired from the cabin, which is armoured, providing protection from shrapnel. The system has its 6×6 wheeled configuration primarily for mobility, said Gaillard, adding that it should be small, compact, and be able to be maintained in France.

Designed and produced in France, all of Foudre's subassemblies and in particular its inertial measurement unit and computers are sovereign capabilities, according to Turgis Gaillard.

The system's launch module would allow for rockets provided by different suppliers, with Gaillard saying the company was already talking to manufacturers and would likely be ready to reveal the system configured for the intended loadout at Eurosatory 2026. Without naming the munitions Turgis Gaillard said Foudre is capable of firing guided rockets with a range of 75 km, a missile with a range of 150 km, a ballistic missile with a range of 300 km, or a cruise missile exceeding a range of 1,000 km, in combinations. In the long term, Foudre will have French ammunition, which is currently under development, according to the company.
