The Royal New Zealand Navy (RNZN) announced on 24 June that its Anzac-class frigate HMNZS Te Kaha is now fully integrated into the Prince of Wales-led Carrier Strike Group 25 (CSG 25).
The milestone was marked by an inaugural landing of a Kaman Super Seasprite SH-2G(I) helicopter on the carrier. The Super Seasprite was embarked on Te Kaha , which recently joined CSG 25.
A statement released by the RNZN to announce the integration described Te Kaha 's participation in the strike group as one that would increase the vessel's combat readiness “by testing its capabilities in a significant multination strike group operation”.
“Being able to work collaboratively with our global partners and demonstrate maritime interoperability is critical for us as a nation, and Operation ‘Highmast' will deliver some key outcomes for our navy and New Zealand Defence Force,” read the statement citing RNZN Maritime Component Commander Commodore Shane Arndell.
As part of CSG 25, Te Kaha will join Prince of Wales in a series of engagements across the Indo-Pacific region including in the multilateral Exercise ‘Talisman Sabre', which will be led by Australia from July to August.
